We recently sold an Venice and a Madrid mattress to an osteopath. So we asked their professional opinion on the best type of mattress for back support. They told us that most of their profession recommends a combination of pocket sprung and memory foam. They also went on to say that if you can't afford pocket sprung with memory foam, then the next best option is just pocket sprung, and that they are far superior to reflex foam and memory foam mattresses that seem to be the most common memory foam mattresses on the market.
The Memory foam used in our mattresses is all British made high density Visco Elastic memory foam, and NOT the cheap low quality memory foam that is being imported from China.
Memory foam was developed by NASA for the astronaughts seats due to it's moulding properties. The memory foam reacts with your body temperature and softens allowing it to mould perfectly to the contours of your body giving excellent weight and pressure distribution, and helping to prevent pressure points.
The layer under the memory foam is what gives the mattress it's bounce. This can be either springs or reflex foam. Although the density of the memory foam can make a difference to the firmness of the mattress, it is mainly determined by the spring layer.
